Artificial intelligence allowed for astronomers to uncover new insights about black holes. They did this by analyzing over 12 million simulations. Researchers found that the Milky Way’s central black hole is spinning at almost maximum speed. This shows that emissions come from hot electrons in the accretion disk, not jets. The project uses data from the Event Horizon Telescope and powered by the Center for High Throughput Computing; the study shows a major step in using AI to advance research.
