Aisuru Botnet Hits Many Big Companies

The Aisuru botnet launched a record-breaking 29.6 Tbps DDoS attack last week, largely powered by compromised Internet of Things (IoT) devices connected through U.S. internet service providers, according to KrebsOnSecurity. Nearly half of the top traffic sources came from major U.S. ISPs, with AT&T, Charter, Comcast, T-Mobile, and Verizon among the most affected. Steven Ferguson of Global Secure Layer, whose own DDoS protection service was hit, highlighted the severe strain caused by traffic like the 500 Gbps seen through Comcast alone. Netscout's Roland Dobbins emphasized the urgent need for stronger, widespread measures to suppress outbound DDoS attacks.
