AI company Anthropic has struck a massive expanded partnership with Amazon, receiving a new $5 billion investment (bringing Amazon’s total to about $13 billion) in exchange for committing to spend over $100 billion on Amazon Web Services (AWS) over the next decade. The deal secures Anthropic access to enormous computing power, up to 5 gigawatts of AI capacity, using Amazon’s custom Trainium chips to train and run its Claude models at scale.
