Apple Removes iCloud's Advanced Data Protection for Users in the UK
Apple's Advanced Data Protection (ADP) feature protects users iCloud data using end-to-end encryption, meaning no one--not even Apple--can decrypt that data without the encryption key, stored on the users' trusted devices themselves. However, the UK recently demanded Apple allow all encrypted data to be accesed by law enforcement under the Investigatory Powers Act, resulting in Apple's pulling the feature.
