Fidelity has sued Broadcom, alleging that Broadcom is threatening to cut off access to essential VMware software that underpins Fidelity’s core financial operations, after Broadcom acquired VMware and switched to bundled subscription models. Fidelity claims this move could trigger massive outages for its 50 million customers and $17.5 trillion in assets, arguing it needs 18 to 24 months to migrate its systems, and is seeking a court order to maintain access while the case proceeds.
