DeepSeek Creates InfernoGrabber, A Browser Based Ransomware

Researchers used the AI model DeepSeek to generate InfernoGrabber v9.0, a functional ransomware that operates completely inside web browsers. Although researchers once believed that bypassing the sandboxing limits made such attacks impossible, Deepseek generated a working proof of concept by combining social engineering and several vulnerabilities. By tricking users into granting file system access through a phishing site, the malware encrypts and overwrites files, before displaying a ransom note. This breakthrough in AI powered cybercrime allows even non-technical criminals to launch sophisticated attacks simply by prompting an AI, significantly lowering the entry barrier for cybercrime. To mitigate this issue, we must emphasize cyber safety education and enforce stricter AI governance.
