Elon Musk Leads an Offer to Buy ChatGPT’s Parent Company for Nearly $100 Billion
Elon Musk, along with a group of investors, has offered to buy OpenAI for $97.4 billion. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman rejected the offer, responding with a playful counter-offer to buy Twitter for $9.74 billion. The bid is part of an ongoing dispute between Musk and Altman over the direction of OpenAI, which Musk believes should return to its original nonprofit mission. Altman, however, is pushing to transform OpenAI into a for-profit company.
