In February of 2025, the Federal Bureau of Investigation opened their Kinetic Cyber Range, a 22,000-square-foot replica town used to train students and law enforcement agencies on real-world cyberattacks, meant to give students a place to apply their practical skills in real-world situations. The range includes fully-furnished buildings such as a courthouse, hotels, gas stations, business centers, data centers, and houses, and it has been used by NASA and the U.S. Army. Within the data center, there are over 200 servers running different operating systems. It helps U.S. investigators practice cybersecurity defenses and exploiting digital vulnerabilities.
