William Barlow, IBM's vice president of threat intelligence until August of 2019, recently disclosed that, between 2013 and 2016, IBM's subsidiaries and core network were potentially breached more than 56,000 times, which they failed to inform the public of. In fact, he alleged that IBM's core network was "routinely" hacked by foreign state actors. Barlow accused IBM of covering up these breaches and failing to properly resolve them. An internal investigation concluded that IBM lacked basic security practices such as logging which users accessed its network. Since one of IBM's primary customers is the U.S. federal government, these security malpractices are especially significant and concerning.
