Ingram Micro, a global distributor of information technology (IT) products and services, confirmed that it recently suffered a ransomware attack that forced it to shut down parts of its infrastructure. Since then they have launched an investigation with the help of cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement. Bleeping Computer reported that the attack was perpetrated by Safepay, a group that uses encryption and data theft as a double extortion tactic.
