National Security Threats Raised Over Intel Chipmaking

Intel, an American semiconductor manufacturing company, has recently tested the incorporation of tools from ACM Research in their advanced chipmaking process. However, there have been claims that ACM Research---which has longstanding ties to China---are aiding the Chinese government to use commercial technology for military use; national security concerns have been raised that ACM Research will leak sensitive chipmaking information to the Chinese government, which will then be used to degrade or halt U.S. chip production. ACM Research has denied these claims, and the Chinese embassy in Washington suggests people to stop politicizing normal trade and economic relations between companies.
