NVIDIA recently launched Halos, which is a full-stack safety system designed for advanced robots and Physical AI. Instead of companies having to stitch together their own safety software and computer parts from scratch, they made a standardized blueprint to make sure industrial robots can safely work together with humans. The company used self-driving car technology and divided it into three main layers: heavy-duty hardware brains (IGX Thor), sensory connectors (Halo Scanner Sensor Bridge) that process data instantly, and a smart software stack (Halos OS), which has a blueprint that links robots to external facility cameras for a birds-eye view of hazards. Humanoid Robotics innovator, Agility, is the first major partner to adopt this tech, building it directly into their two-legged warehouse robot units to prove to major customers like Amazon and Toyota that these machines can safely collaborate alongside human workers.
