Quantum Communications Network Between Campuses

An experimental quantum communications network has recently been set up between the Rochester Institute of Technology and Rochester University; it uses two optical fibers lines that can transmit data up-to 11 miles. While still in infancy, this technology's use of photons as qubits could be a game-changer for secure data transmission.
