There is a sophisticated network of fake, impersonated news websites, that mimic real ones to implement investment scams. These websites are in turn promoted by ads promising ‘income streams’ also featuring local celebrities. Through Google and Facebook platforms, Malwarebytes notes that there are around 17,000 of these websites in circulation, targeting users from over 50 countries.
